Therapeutic actions: Larano (Loratadine) is an antihistamine medication that selectively blocks the peripheral H-one histamine. Histamine is an allergic mediator that is released into the blood as a result of body’s reaction to the foreign substances (allergens). Histamine binds to H-one receptors triggering a certain number of chemical reactions, that lead to allergy symptoms. By blocking H-one histamine receptors Loratadine eliminates the symptoms related to histamine (sneezing, nasal congestion, watery eyes, a runny nose).
Anti allergic effects occurs in thirty minutes after the application of Loratadine and reaches the maximal concentration in 8-12 hours. Therapeutic effect of Loratadine lasts twenty four hours.
Loratadine and its metabolites do not affect CNS, do not exert sedative and anticholinergic action.
Indications:
Loratadine is used to treat:
- Seasonal and all year-round allergic rhinitis (elimination the symptoms - nose obstruction, nasal congestion, itching in the nose and eyes)
- Allergic conjunctivitis
- Chronic hives
Contraindications and cautions:
You should not use Loratadine in the following conditions:
- Hypersensitivity to Loratadine
- in infants
- Liver diseases(Liver failure)
- Kidney diseases(kidney failure)
Use Lorano with caution in malabsorbtion syndrome.
Adverse effects: There are possible side-effects associated with this medicine that can affect individuals in different ways. If a side effect is stated here, that does not necessarily mean the fact that all people using Lorano will experience it or any other.
- Headache
- Xerostomia
- Tiredness
- Drowsiness
- Increased appetite
- Cough
- Dizziness
- Nausea
- Increased heart beat
